Shelly Yechimovich and Yair Lapid accused Tzipi Livni on Monday of
misrepresenting the conclusions reached in a meeting between the three
politicians.
"Unlike what was agreed upon before and after last night's meeting, Tzipi Livni chose to present a false version of what had transpired during the gathering," Yechimovich and Lapid said in a joint statement.
"We convened
out of mutual respect, even though we have many disagreements over
ideology. We were shocked to learn that we were nothing but a backdrop
for (Livni's) calculated spin, which didn't contain the faintest hint of
truth. It has become evident that the invitation to meet was a trick
though up by Livni, who is desperate."
Hatnu'a party head
Tzipi Livni issued ab immediate statement denouncing "the unfortunate and
unnecessary reaction" by the Labor and Yesh Atid parties.
According to Livni, this "proves that [Labor head Shelly Yecimovich and Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid] coordinated their positions before the meeting, during the meeting and after the meeting, in order to prevent the truth from surfacing - that they are self-serving and thus refuse to form a cohesive unit that can provide hope to the public."
"Their self-interest," Livni continued "precludes them from continuing discussions, but instead leads them to engage in spins and mudslinging. It is time the public learns the truth about their personal motives."
