Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday that preventing Iran from getting a nuclear bomb will top his agenda if he wins the upcoming election.
Netanyahu spoke at a meeting with visiting US senators, including Republican minority leader Mitch McConnell.
“My priority, if I’m elected for a next term as prime minister, will be first to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons,” he said.
McConnell voiced support for Israel during his meeting with Netanyahu and said that the US and Israel share regional interests.
“As everybody in Israel knows, there are a lot of things we disagree on in America, we’ve had big battles over deficit and debt, but there’s broad bi-partisan support for Israel, and our agenda in this part of the world is the same as your agenda,” McConnell said, according to a statement from the prime minister’s office.
