When the Prime Minister shed a tear...

(Yisrael Hayom newspaper). It was an emotional moment for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, visiting an air force facility, a guest of IAF commander, Major-General Ido Nehushtan and other senior officers. The prime minister was taken to the Hercules transport plane used in 1976, the plane in which the commander of the force heading to Entebbe traveled. The commander was his late brother, Lt.-Colonel Yoni Netanyahu, who was killed in the rescue mission.

The prime minister toured the Chatzeirim base, getting into the cockpit of a Ra’am (F15i) fighter jet and seeing other advanced weaponry. According to experts, the Ra’am will be used by Israel in the event an offensive is launched against Iran.

The prime minister was briefed on different air force statistics and figures, and he used the opportunity to thank the commander on the IAF’s contributed to protecting Israel and her citizens. A senior officer that stood beside him revealed that Netanyahu was overwhelmed from the gesture and when he descended from the airplane he shed a tear.
