Netanyahu confers with Mubarak before Egyptian president's visit to U.S.

(Haaretz).Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by telephone with Egypt President Hosni Mubarak on Monday just days after Cairo authorities announced the arrest of an alleged group of terrorists who plotted to assassinate Israel's ambassador.

Netanyahu expressed gratitude to Mubarak for the regime's success in thwarting the alleged plot.

Netanyahu's national security adviser, Uzi Arad, departed Israel for Egypt on Monday for talks with defense officials in Cairo, including Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman.
