Netanyahu supported limiting investment of pension funds in stock market to maximum of 25% - proposal defeated by Olmert Coalition

MK Chaim Katz [Likud] proposed Law 2853/P to limit the investment of
pension funds in the stock market to no more than 25%.

The law was opposed by the Olmert Government and defeated by a vote of 41
to 33 on 12 March 2008.

Israel Television Channel Two correspondent Amit Segal noted tonight that
those in the Kadima Party calling for an investigation of what happened with
the pension funds apparently have a short memory since among those who voted
in favor of the law: MK Binyamin Netanyahu with Amir Peretz. Among those
voting against the law: Eli Yishai (Shas), Ronni Bar On, Rafi Eitan,
Avishai Braverman and Ze'ev Boim. Ze'ev Boim is one of the people who
called today for an investigation.
