Netanyahu to Yesha Chief: I’m Under Pressure

(IsraelNN.com) During a surprise meeting with a Yesha leader, PM Binyamin Netanyahu reportedly said he supported Jewish construction but was under pressure to prevent it. The Haaretz newspaper reports that Gush Etzion Region Head, Shaul Goldstein, was in a meeting at the beginning of August with the Prime Minister’s Office Director, Eyal Gabbai, when the latter suddenly ushered the Prime Minister into the room.

According to Goldstein, Netanyahu said he agreed with Yesha leaders about the need for allowing construction but said there was pressure from “a number of different directions” to prevent it. In spite of the situation, Netanyahu promised to allow Jewish building in Judea and Samaria.
