NY Governer candidate Andrew Cuomo makes first public showing at Salute To Israel parade

(NYdailynews).Andrew Cuomo's first day of campaigning could hardly have gone better: he marched down Fifth Avenue to the sound of cheers and people chanting his name.

Jumping into the back of Sunday's Salute To Israel parade, Cuomo got a great reception as he marched with teenage daughter Cara under the banner of attorney general.

"Go Cuomo!" clapping parade watchers called out. "Yeah Andrew!"

As to his new campaign for governor, in which he is the heavy favorite, Cuomo vowed to listen to New Yorkers.

"Politicians tend to follow what the people in the district want done, otherwise they are not politicians for long," he said.

"You go to the people first, and get the people on your side," he said. "My mission is to develop an agenda for this state and to develop support among the people."
