PM Netanyahu kicks off 1st cabinet meeting stressing peace and security

(Jpost).Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu kicked off his first cabinet meeting Sunday morning, stressing that his new government would be characterized by "unity, responsibility and hard work," and emphasizing a policy of peace and security.

The prime minister began the meeting by addressing his government, which includes nearly 30 ministers. "I would like to stress three things: Responsibility, unity and work," he said.

"This government is a real unity government. It was formed out of a feeling of deep responsibility and the need to urgently handle the security-related, social and economic issues facing the State of Israel. This is why we’re getting into business right away."

"We will therefore pull up our sleeves and get straight to work," he pledged.

"Over the next few weeks we'll formulate in the security cabinet a policy of peace and security," Netanyahu continued.

Amid the uproar over Netanyahu's failure to appoint a full-fledged health minister, the prime minister vowed to appoint "a head of the Health Ministry" soon.

Netanyahu also said he would rescind a measure passed by former prime minister Ehud Olmert's government - the NIS 650m. construction of a new prime minister's office
