(Haaretz).Germany will host a summit in June that will include Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and about 10 other Israeli ministers.
An Israeli official said the summit would include the foreign, defense, industry, education, tourism, environment, culture, science and infrastructure ministers.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel contacted Netanyahu on Friday afternoon to invite him to the June 9 summit in Berlin, and to encourage him to continue the peace process with the Palestinian Authority. She expressed support for the principle of "two states for two peoples."
The summit will be a follow-up to a March 17 meeting in Israel aimed at improving Jerusalem-Berlin relations. Merkel came with a delegation of eight ministers, and they held working meetings with their Israeli counterparts.
Netanyahu's diplomatic schedule is steadily filling up. On April 16 U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell will arrive for his first meeting with the Netanyahu administration. He is expected to lay out his government's policy on negotiations with the Palestinians.
On May 3, Netanyahu will visit Washington and meet U.S. President Barack Obama and officials from the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC. On May 16, Pope Benedict XVI will make his first official visit to Israel as pontiff.
Netanyahu has also been invited to London, Paris and Rome, and will likely visit those capitals in the coming months.
