Shas party was forced to remove the campaign posters depicting Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Prime Minister Netanyahu from buses, due to their modesty demands, Israel Hayom reports.
According to the website "Srugim," which
caters to the religious public, repeated complaints from the
ultra-Orthodox public in Jerusalem, and threats of an ultra-Orthodox
boycott, prompted the bus company Egged to agree not to display women in
ads on their buses, from modesty concerns. A subsequent petition to the
High Court of Justice by the non-profit organization "Yerushalmim" led
to a ruling forbidding discrimination in bus advertising. In order to
avoid complications, it was decided that Jerusalem buses would not
display any ads depicting people, men or women.
Now, this policy has forced Shas to remove their ads, which depict men.
